Peter R. Hammerling signed indenture papers for a carpenter-joiner's apprenticeship at an architectural woodworking shop on January 1, 1949.  After four years service in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, he pursued his trade.  He is a member of the Hudson Valley Artisan's Guild and Northeastern Woodworkers Associations.

Stephen Hammerling joined his father in 1977.  His expertise in woodworking contributes greatly to the quality of the company's work.

Alpine Building Specialties, Inc. is a father-son business that operates in the Hudson Valley.
